Life’s an Adventure: Dress for It

by Abby on October 23, 2013

He’s small. He’s stealthy. He fights dirty. He’s cute, but don’t tell him that unless you want a foam shuriken to the jugular. He’s Riley, the…

boy dressed as a ninja

You have never seen such unbridled joy as that of my 4yo son when I took him to Party City to buy his Halloween costume yesterday. In the first 24 hours he’s put on the costume, oh, maybe 5 or 6 times. And when he does, he morphs into a fearless ninja warrior, prowling the family room on a silent mission. Man, I love that kid.

You know, he’s on to something with the dressing up stuff. Put on the right outfit — or disguise, if you wish — and you can transform yourself into anyone you want to be. For instance, here’s me on a weekend away with my husband to celebrate our anniversary, channeling Kate Middleton and transforming myself into a stylish, 30-something, temporarily child-free woman. (And yes, I’m wearing the boots, though you can’t tell in this pic.) I’ve gotta say, it’s a nice change from my usual persona of harried mom in workout gear schlepping everyone and their stuff around all day.

Who’s your alter ego, and what costume do you wear to transform into it?

Great pics. My Halloween costume last year was a Jack Sparrow Pirate outfit and all I could say for days was AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!

This year I will be a Renaissance Regal King with all the capes and crown….already practicing my Knight Dubbing with my long sword.

Oh my goodness! I went to Party City with Dillon this weekend and got the exact same costume! Size medium. You look great!

I’m pulling out the Daphne costume again this year. I’m feeling red head in purple boots. πŸ™‚

Any costume that comes with weapons included is bound to be a big hit with boys!

Love it! My alter-ego is Black Widow. Just dyed my hair to prove it. πŸ˜‰

Nice! I like how you’ve fully committed to the role. I’ll expect pictures.

Hi TiaThank you for taking part in the 5 scneente challenge. I love that you have used wow words to describe what you can see. My favourite if the fluffy clouds’. Unfortunately I can’t enter this onto the 5 scneente challenge website as you have written 7 scneentes here. To make this even better you could have made the scneentes longer by adding a connective. I can see an ice cream man and a girl wearing her costume.
