Music Videos and Fun with Margarine Tubs

by Abby on November 1, 2013

I’m not sure how I got hooked on the TV drama Nashville, since I’m not much of a country music fan, but it may be because I had recently been to that city and because I secretly covet Connie Britton’s hair. As a fan of the show, I was thrilled to learn that the girls who play Connie Britton/aka Rayna James’ daughters are sisters in real life. Not only that, but they’re adorable! Not only that, but they sing! Not only that, but they can do clever things with margarine tubs!

Check out this video:

I think what I like best about it is that it shows you don’t need all the glitz and glam and fancy production and life-sized twerking teddy bears to pull off a memorable performance. (Are you listening, Miley Cyrus?!) You can simply work with what your mama gave ya – your beautiful voice and a cast-off from the recycling bin.

Speaking of using plastic cups as percussion instruments, this song by Anna Kendrick from the movie Pitch Perfect has gone viral on YouTube, in case you missed it.

THAT makes me happy because it’s a ridiculously catchy song AND Pitch Perfect is one of my favorite movies ever. (Says the girl who still loves Clueless after all these years. Yay for lighthearted and entertaining female empowerment films! Especially starring unlikely leading actresses.)

Watching these reminded me of a video I made myself long ago, for a tiny tot we called “The Little Drummer Boy.” Break down some beats and have a good weekend, everyone!

I am guilty of liking all those shows as well. My mom’s in town visiting and I had to explain all the shared hook ups on Nashville to her. That took awhile. Speaking of Rebel Wilson (on to pitch perfect)… Have you been watching her new sitcom Super Fun Night? Really cute.

Hi, Sarah! I have been watching it, yes, and while I like her and most of the other actors, I wish it were funnier. It’s got potential, I just don’t think the show has found its footing yet.

Omg, I was all prepared to comment about the cute sister girls, but the video of Riley has me blubbering. Totally crying. So sweet.

I know! He was so tiny. I’m so glad we captured some of his babyhood on video. We have almost none of Miles.
