Whoa! I looked up and it’s JULY. How did that happen?! We’re in the full throes of summer here, with all the kids’ activities, heat, mosquitoes, and abbreviated writing time that this season involves for us work-at-home moms.
It’s OK, though. I may not be writing as much, but I am editing and polishing and revising and submitting and all that other not-so-glamorous stuff that goes into publishing. And guess what? It’s paying off! I have an essay coming out in the new anthology, Not Your Mother’s Book . . . On Home Improvement, being released Sept. 10 by Publishing Syndicate. It’s about my attempt to refurbish a desk for my son, which some of you may recall.
In case you’re not familiar with this series, I see NYMB as a hipper, edgier, more modern Chicken Soup for the Soul. And I have to say, having contributed to quite a few anthologies, I’m pretty impressed with the professionalism and editing process that’s gone into this book. These editors know their stuff. If you’re an essay writer, check out their submission guidelines.
Wishing you a fun, productive, and mosquito-free week!
