Oh, Yeah, I Forgot: My Life’s Crazy

by Abby on April 3, 2013

So I’m back from a 4-day trip up north to visit family over the Easter weekend. Our journey involved 2 kids, 1 dog, and a vehicle stuffed full of snacks, blankies, DVDs, coloring books, and more electronic devices than you can shake a (memory) stick at. BTW, we used them ALL. Family roadtrip brought to you by Pandora, Audible.com, and YouTube!

Family car trip

It also involved a semi-sleepless night in a hotel, a near-accident resulting in spilled coffee and a marital spat, a malfunctioning EZ-Pass, a missing DS charger, way too much sugar, and a kid peeing into a cup because he COULDN’T HOLD IT ONE MORE SECOND even though he’d just gone 20 min. ago and we were 2 miles from home.

But ask me how the trip was and I’ll say, good. Fun. One of our best ever. That’s because I’ve gotten used to the craziness that is my life. It happened gradually, imperceptibly, sort of like the gray hairs that are showing up on my head these days. Just goes to show you can get used to anything. Read more at TheBump.com.

Snap! (Well except the peeing in the cup as my little boy is only 6 months old!). Just back from a very similar trip – we feel like the Beverly Hillbillies each time we go with all the stuff jammed packed in the car – and yes it is all needed cos as all mum’s know, the very thing you dont bring is exactly the one that you end up urgently needing and going to the 24 hour store to buy (for us it was the Tommee Tippee flask for warming the baby bottle when out and about….. this is our 3rd one to buy and no we havent lost any of them just forgotten to bring it along sometimes!). And at least 1 hour of the 2 hour journey was spent fielding “are we there yet” questions from our 3 year old princess. Came back exhausted but strangely fulfilled!

Yes, it’s ALWAYS the thing you need most that’s not easy or cheap to replace! For us it was the cloth fold-up “baby gym.” We ended up buying 2 or 3.
